Erin’s Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades TK-8. Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author and motivational speaker, will be assisting our schools in implementing this mandate. This is our fourth year with his program, Be Seen and Heard. It is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The assemblies are presented in specific grade level groups to ensure the message is age appropriate for all students. The focus of the presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations: https://www.victorpacini.com/

The concepts that will be discussed are:
  • Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches
  • Saying “NO”
  • It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her
  • Telling a trusted adult
  • Safety rules at home and school
  • Safe/unsafe secrets

Students will watch the presentation over Zoom in their classroom on November 2, 3 or 6. The exact date and time of the assembly will be shared with you as we get closer to the date. If you choose for your child to not participate in the assembly, there will be an opt out form sent in mid-October for you to complete.

To learn more about the content of the assembly, you are invited to attend a parent informational meeting on Monday, October 2 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The Zoom link will be provided closer to the date of the event. This information has also been translated into Spanish as a recorded webinar. Please use this link to access the translated information: https://www.victorpacini.com/peace-of-mind-espanol/
